"Lucy woke out of the deepest sleep you can imagine, with the feeling that the voice she liked best in the world had been calling her name."

- C.S. Lewis, Prince Caspian -

Wow. This is maybe one of my favorite quotes from the Chronicles of Narnia. It's from Prince Caspian, the second book in the series. It's so simple and so sweet, and I love what it represents. If you have never read this series, you need to pick it up now. While it is fictional, it still has so many awesome and intentional parallels to the Gospel. In this particular part of the book, Lucy is in a deep sleep and she keeps hearing a voice but doesn't know where it's coming from. Long story short, she discovers it to be Aslan. She thought it might have been him, but she wasn't sure. But it was him all along softly calling her name. Just like God does with us. Also, she sees him for the first time in a while and thinks he's gotten bigger, but then he tells her that he only appears that way because she has grown too, and with every year she grows, Aslan grows too.

I just think that's amazing and so real. First of all, yes yes yes to the Lord's voice being the one we love most in this world. I just think that is such a sweet representation of how Scripture points out that we are sheep and our Shepherd has tuned our ears to hear his voice. And second, I love the parallel with Aslan growing as Lucy grows. Every year that she grows, it's not that Aslan himself grows, but he appears bigger because Lucy finds him bigger. Isn't that so true of us? The more we grow in our maturity in Christ, the bigger our view of God becomes.

Anyway, I didn't really plan on writing this much (I never do), but I just love this so much and wanted to share it with you guys. I'm eventually going to make this as a print and add it to the shop, but I wanted to give you guys a free download of it to use as a background on your computer or phone if you want. Enjoy!
